I think I found a transmission. Sure would be cool if you had a Ford 205 laying around the farm somewhere. We could do some trading.

I really think your missing out with a 4.3 vs 3800 series II, all you get with 4.3 is more weight and less power.

as far as being common, this is pulled straight from wikipedia

The 3800 was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines of the 20th century list, made Ward's yearly 10 Best list multiple times, and is one of the most-produced engines in history. To date, over 25 million have been produced

that sounds pretty common for me

if your scared of the harness Ill strip it down for ya on the cheap, Ive done 4 harness chops and tbi and muliport are 6 one way half dozen the other. shits easy once you get the "wrap" off of em. I label all my connectors as i pull them off the motor, makes it cave man simple.

Id stay away from the s/c models just because you have to do so much work on the charger on a rwd application

heres a nice example, low miles and cheap

If you want a dual purpose SUV with a 4.3 automatic how about just get a blazer? A lot easier to deal with not swapping shit and it would pull a small camper a little better since it's a little heavier.

not a bad plan, the regular blazers bring the suck but a low sas one would be cool, or I always liked the ZR2 ones

That he would have to put a motor and transmission and transfer case in just to get it to work how he wants when he can just buy something already set up
