Yesterday I heard that there was an incident at powerline park, It was last weekend I do believe. They said that a young fellow was almost completely decapitated. The chain was hooked to a strap the strap broke while the other vehicle was jerking the stuck vehicle the chain came thru the windshield and took the guys head almost completely off his shoulder's. If this is true please update this and remember, chains, straps, and cables are all very dangerous, use caution, and common sense.

Its not know that a chain was used. The story I was told was the tow point on the vehicle broke sending the strap and clevis through the window.

Could have been a chain involved but it wasnt released as to specific details

Redarless of chains, straps, hooks, or cables, ALL can be dangerous if you are nto careful. This was a totaly freak accident that could have happened to anyone. I have seen many unsafe practices used for recovery, and I have participated in a few myself. This only makes me double think before hook a strap.

man that is really sad! 22yrs young!
as stated above, be safe! taking a few extra seconds to throw a towel on a pull strap can save so much damage! really try to stay away from chains, and straps with hooks :!:

my personal experience, before I knew any better...... friend was trying to pull me out of a mud pit with a chain and it snapped. thank god it only came back to hit the jeep and fall to the ground. this could have been much worse!

my second incident happen on a beard cemetery. Buford (Roy) was pulling me out of mud (deep!) and bent one of my Rusty's tow hooks straight, allowing the strap to fly towards Roy's truck. People were standing around, but no one got hurt (thank god), but it did take out a brake line on Roy's truck. This was a tow strap, no hooks on the end!

just be safe, have fun but be safe!
